Brand "Slim" Cedrone
Brand is a self-taught harmonica player who can cover just about any tune known to man, including his medley of tunes from the Wizard of Oz. Slim has performed in Southeastern Massachusetts with many of the local musicians including an extended stint with Acoustic Tripp (Karen Tripp and Linda Theberge) and a short stint with "Doc Webb's Blues 101" as well as his key role in forming the Vic Wotherspoon Trio (with Vic and Dave Corcoran). A well known and much respected "harp" player, Slim frequently finds himself invited on stage, impromtu, or scheduled into a studio session to support a feature performer. Slim's command of his instrument allows him to perform successfully in a variety of musical genre.
As a blues-harp master, Slim gets your attention, but he is able to produce the sound of a "slightly off" jug band harmonica as easily as the crisp drive required of electric Chicago style blues. Recently, as a member of Wotherspoon's Jug Stompers, he has stepped forward to strut his stuff playing the harmonica, ukulele, banjo-uke, washboard, bones, sandpaper blocks and is beginning to exercise his vocal talents. Slim quips, "I never wanted to be a front-man for a group. I like the background work - out of the limelight."
Jim Gordon
In the folk and acoustic world of self-taught musicians Jim is the "Real McCoy". Trained at the New England Conservatory, Jim holds his own on many instruments including piano, jazz guitar, ukulele, Irish drum and electric bass, but his acoustic music inspiration came from Bill Monroe - Jim is a mandolin virtuoso.
Jim's musical interests and talents are long-standing and, even while building his career in the TV and film industry, he has taken the time to learn, perform and stay connected with this crazy business we call folk music. Jim has a very broad knowledge and tremendous skill in several musical genre. His jazz and swing performances on guitar leave the listening audience in awe and the guitar playing observers in despair: "No matter how much I practice, I'll never, ever be able to match that...", commented one musician at a recent performance. Generally performing on one of his vintage Gibson jazz models, Jim makes a splash wherever he goes.
As a mandoin player, Jim has captured the attention of many fellow performers in Southeastern Massachusetts. He has played regularly with many local musicians in a variety of musical venues throughout the area. Currently, as lead instrumentalist and a feature performer with Brand Cedrone and Harry Cook, Jim lends his mandolin solos, vocal talents and occasional bass lines while acting as the "musical director" of The Resonators. (After all he's the only one who can actually read those notes!) Jim's connections in the Boston area music scene are well established and tremendously valuable to the band.
Jim lives in Marshfield and works in Cambridge or --- wherever the business takes him. As an independent film director, Jim works on a variety of educational, commercial and artistic productions around the country. Formerly a local TV director, Jim has transferred his talents and contacts successfully to his own business ventures. Jim spends as much time as possible with his daughter, looks after his two horses and (in his spare time) collects fretted instruments and performs his musical magic with friends and colleagues.
Harry Cook
From his days in Rock 'n Roll to his Bluegrass period Harry's musical talents have served him well. Whether the flat top guitar, five string banjo or upright bass he holds his own on stage and in the studio. The Resonators have successfully lured him away from the all too predictable role as a Bluegrass (..."don't mind me, I'm just the...) bass player to this exciting and very unpredictable life in a jug band. As expected, Harry is not only holding his own with folk, blues, gypsy and even Hawaiian, but picking up the slack as an added vocalist and quickly becoming an integral part of the band.
Once known as "Horizontal Harry" in his motorcycle racing days, Harry's interests have centered on the mechanics of automobiles, motorcycles and a wide variety of engineering technologies. His non-musical career has included positions in a variety of engineering companies, including one of his own. In addition Harry is a skilled carpenter and general builder and occasionally works with several local builders on a wide variety of projects.
Harry's work on the upright bass is well known in the Bluegrass community in Eastern Massachusetts. Most recently performing with "Freewheelin'" Harry's career has included stints with several local and nationally acclaimed Bluegrass groups including "Bill Hall and Northwind Bluegrass" and "Empty Pockets". He as worked Nashville, appeared on many CDs and has been able to meet many of the greats in the U.S. Bluegrass community - Harry seems to know anybody who is anybody in Bluegrass! This fine bass player adds not only as solid bottom end to The Resonators, but has brought a great sense of humor and new energy to the band.
Art Tebbetts
Stirring vocals, great guitar work, humorous stories and the chameleon like ability to adapt in most musical genre hardly begin to describe this man's talent. Some really believe that Art was born a folk singer; from his days with the "Pearly Baker Band" to his solo career, as the popular host of New Bedford's Cafe Arpeggio (Ahem!...every Thursday evening from 7pm-10pm) and now as guitarist and vocalist for The Resonators, Art shines.
New Bedford's resident troubadour, is the consummate entertainer. His talent and humor shine through in each and every performance as his music weaves a spell and takes you to far away places. Art is truly a "student" of music, constantly learning and adding to his repertoire of songs. He makes his living performing music. His bookings include coffeehouses and festivals as well as his "Music for the Ages" where he entertains the elderly in nursing homes, adult living facilities, hospitals, senior centers, clubs and organizations. Art is truly one of New Bedford's gems.
Art makes his home in Fairhaven, where he - well he lives the life of a folk singer! Art is an exciting and welcome addition to The Resonators.
